Annenberg Space for Photography
Adam Jahiel's photographs have appeared in major publications such asTIME, Newsweek and The New York Times, as well as in dozens of books, including the acclaimed A Day in the Life series. For years, Jahiel has been photographing the cowboys of the Great Basin, a very rugged region of the West. To him, these cowboys represent one of the last authentic American subcultures. Jahiel reflects the sentiments of cowboy tradition in his photographs, not remaking them into Hollywood images, but keeping them as "found" images, honoring their spirit of authenticity.
