#NCJW TO AWARD 10 #SCHOLARSHIPS IN DECEMBER 2014



LOS ANGELES, Calif.--Women Helping Women ~ Community Counseling & Support services (WHW), a program of National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles (NCJW/LA), is accepting applications for the fall 2014 cycle of its Scholarship Program.

NCJW/LA scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,000 and are awarded to nursing students, teachers, single parents, mid-life women, and film production students. Applications will be accepted until the deadline on November 1, 2014 and 10 scholarships will be awarded in December 2014.

 

The scholarships awarded include:

  • Dodell Women's Empowerment Scholarship
  • The Ellis Scholarship for Childcare
  • The June Miller Nursing Education Scholarship
  • Inger Lawrence-M.R. Bauer Foundation Nursing Studies Scholarship
  • Samuel Schulman Memorial Scholarship
  • The Sol Goldberg Childcare Subsidy
  • The Sherman & Frances L. Teller Teachers Scholarship
  • Stephen L. Teller & Richard Hotson TV and Cinema Scholarship

The WHW scholarship program was created in 1987 to distribute funds to both women and men who have made a commitment to higher education as a means of overcoming obstacles in their lives and achieving a better future. Scholarships are awarded to residents of the greater Los Angeles area in two annual cycles according to strict guidelines and a comprehensive application process. Since its inception, the program has provided more than $342,000 in grants to deserving individuals without regard to their religious or ethnic background. Applications are evaluated based on each student's dedication to their chosen path and their financial need.
